Head to Head-Hatchbacks

OK. Here we go, the first head-to-head on the website. I thought it time to do something on affordable cars which you might like and nag your parents to get as your next car. Lets start with the Golf. a car that to be honest hasn't changed much since its release in 1974. Yes it's more modern with MUCH nicer interior and instead of straight lines and corners it has curved edges, and everything is just generally better, but if you think about it, the Golf hasn't changed much-. The hatchback version is still a hatchback, and it's still small and relatively cheap. The audi, which doesn't have as much history as the Golf, has been in production since 1996, and all of the above have changed, however, it's still a hatchback, and it's still roughly the same size, and some versions still have 2 doors. Right now for the stats YOU are going to want to know, to know which one to buy.

The Golf does a pretty average 53 mpg and the Audi does a decent 63 mpg.

will parking be nice or will it be a nightmare?! Well the Audi is 4.3125m long by 1.785m wide by 1.4255m high--so not to bad and the Golf is pretty much the same--4.199m long by 2.048m wide by 1.479m high.

So unless you are weird or something and want you car to be bigger than its rival, so that parking is a challenge... it is 2-0 now.

The Golf does 138 g/km where as the Audi does 104.

The Golf has 350 litres, but the Audi has a whopping 380 litres! Pretty impressive for a hatchback.

Now, the one you've all been waiting for. Well, it's a bit anti--climactic! They both cost around the same depending on which model you get, but they are both around £20,000

Now, this is the time that Jeremy Clarkson would come in on the Grand Tour and say: "Look at me, look at me, I have an Alfa Romeo which is better than all this rubbish!" But thankfully this is not the Grand Tour so he won't.

Verdict

Well you've learnt that volkswagen don't make cars that are as good as Audis and that if you are buying a hatchback, the Audi A3 Sportback Hatchback (when you get it call it the sportback) is the car for you. Happy Audi buying!!
