Coupe or not coupe? That is the question.

I've noticed recently a lot of odd-looking coupes around, even Mini caught onto the idea, which is worrying! They look like something has knoched off a lot of the back and some of the top! I don't know how they will ever catch on!
Let's start with the Saab 9-3 convertible

From the back, it looks awful! The roof just seems to come out of the body, completely unexpectadely! The front doesn't make up for it either! The only reson I would buy this car is for the interior. The boot space is minimal, but if it looked nice (which it doesn't) then the boot space would be completely made up for by stylishness! Then the price must be reasonable then...NO! ROUGHLY £40,000 FOR THE BASE MODEL! you could have a nicely upgraded, new 2017 Mini Countyman Cooper S, and still have a lovely 6 grand to spend for that much! WHAT IS THE POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's not even much power, just 147BHP and 0-60 in 10 secs with a top speed of 127 mph. Take a look at the top picture for a second...did you notice the numberplate?? Y8 FAB. Really!!!? This car is the OPPOSITE of fab!! It's not brilliant for reliability either!
Verdict
Not a brilliant car at all and I still don't get the point of these cars! If you're going to make one, make it sporty!
like the Mini Coupe

I don't mnd the look from the back so much, and the spoiler really adds to the sporty profile. From the front it doesn't actually look half bad, and the interior is lovely. It's sporty with the red and black and the tech is brilliant as well! And, it only costs around £17,000. Oh no, it's not convertible, I won't have the exhilerating thrill of the wind in my hair. Wait, there's a Mini roadster which is pretty much the same as the coupe apart from the soft top!!!!

It also does 20 more mpg than the Saab (the Mini does 52) and the top speeds are the same. The Mini only has 120 BHP on the base model, but who needs an extra 27 horses when 0-60 for this is 8.7 secs, 1.3 less than the Saab. My family have a mini (read the Mini countryman review I did here) and it's never broken down, ever, so I can't say this won't be reliable. Why I ask you, WHY would you buy th Saab when this is on offer??!
Verdict
A car which looks better than its rivals and as I say, looks are (sometimes) all that matter.
Conclusion
Well I think not coupe! I don't get these coupes at all, not even the Mini. Some coupes are very stylish, byt these just aren't. If you're going to get a car for this price, get a hatchback.
